Heliotrope San Francisco was born from necessity and passion when founder Jonathan Plotzker-Kelly lost his job after years in retail. With extensive experience in product development and relationships with small chemists throughout the Bay Area, Jonathan saw an opportunity to create something different—all-natural, fragrance-free skincare that puts efficacy and personalization first. Starting in a small storefront where everything from filling to labeling to shipping happened under one roof (with a tiny retail space for walk-ins), Jonathan built Heliotrope from the ground up using credit cards, determination, and working relationships with people he knew and trusted.

For over 15 years, Heliotrope has been crafting high-quality, gender-neutral skincare in small batches using simple, organic ingredients—no synthetic perfumes, no artificial colors, no parabens, no phthalates, and absolutely no animal testing. Every product starts fragrance-free, giving customers the choice to leave it that way or customize it with their own individualized aromatherapy blend using 100% pure, undiluted essential oils—at no extra charge. From their signature shaving cream (one of the first products developed) to hand and body lotions, goat's milk soaps, massage candles, and healing serums, each item is designed to soothe, heal, moisturize, and protect.

Made entirely in Northern California with locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible, Heliotrope proudly partners with Greenspark to plant trees and support sustainability efforts with every purchase. The brand has built a devoted following—including a customer who first discovered their liquid hand soap at a posh Mexico City restaurant and now orders gallon jugs to refill at home—by letting the products speak for themselves without hype or celebrity endorsements.
