Collection: M.S. Skincare

Woman of Color-Owned | Modern Ayurvedic Living™ | Luxury Vegan Skincare Since 2012

M.S Skincare (formerly Mullein & Sparrow) was born from a profound journey of self-discovery and cultural reconnection. Founded by Anit Hora—a Brooklyn-raised daughter of Indian immigrants—the brand emerged in 2012 after Anit left her successful fashion design career to backpack solo through South America, where she discovered the transformative power of herbal medicine. That period of wandering and exploration led her to become a certified yoga teacher, licensed herbalist, and Aveda-trained esthetician, ultimately reconnecting her with the Ayurvedic principles her parents had lovingly imparted throughout her childhood.

What began as homemade skincare concoctions for friends and family in Anit's Brooklyn kitchen evolved into a luxury plant-based apothecary that bridges Eastern and Western beauty traditions. As a Tory Burch Foundation Fellow and Goldman Sachs Small Business Program graduate, Anit has built M.S Skincare on the philosophy of Modern Ayurvedic Living™—the belief that beauty is a natural consequence of holistic living and that skin reflects the wellbeing of body, mind, and spirit.

Every ingredient is personally curated by Anit, who builds relationships with small ateliers and farmers who share her mission, researching the entire cultivation process—from how essential oils are curated to how plant hydrosols are extracted. Products combine time-honored Ayurvedic beautifiers with modern actives, bottled in elegant glass (never plastic) and shipped in packaging selected with sustainability at its core: recycled tissue paper from suppliers who contribute to global reforestation, biodegradable bubble wrap, and recyclable cardboard. M.S Skincare is one of the only fully woman of color-owned brands rooted in Ayurveda, herbalism, and esthetics—proving that luxury, sustainability, and cultural heritage can coexist beautifully in every ritual.
